Irene Herrmann
received her BA in Music from UCB and her Masters Degree in Performance Practice from UCSC, with an emphasis on American Vernacular Music and 20th-century piano repertoire. She performs with the New Music Works of Santa Cruz and various ensembles at University of California, Santa Cruz.
She worked closely with the American-born composer/author Paul Bowles, an expatriate living in Morocco, and presented two all-Bowles chamber concerts in the Bay Area.
She is the artistic director and pianist on a CD of Bowles's music called Paul Bowles: A Musical Portrait (Koch International Classics 3-7343-2H1).
Ms Herrmann premiered both the piano version and the chamber version (with choreography) of Dudley Brooks's musical composition Lithe Spirit.
