Mr Stupid and Mr Stupid trip the light fantastic in a one-ring, eight-chair circus.  A homage to Sir Isaac Newton's Law of Universal Gravitation. A five-section work using the most idiotic and seriously comic movements that can be done on eight folding chairs.

Upchairs Downchairs began with our need to take a rest during rehearsal from another piece. The two chairs quickly multiplied to eight; in fact, we have recently added yet another five. Choreographically, we wanted to make a work which perfectly fits the non sequitur character of the music, but which nevertheless has a strong feeling of dramatic necessity. This puts the work in the novel genre of abstract comedy.

The subject matter, if there is one, is those two poles of human existence: gravity and comedy.
